The UT Clarinet studio is very excited to have Mark Nuccio, Principal Clarinet of the Houston Symphony Orchestra as a guest on February 24th, 2017. He will lead a master class at 4pm in Recital Studio at the Butler School of Music.

Tyler Webster made it to the finals of the United States Air Force Premiere Band!

We are happy to announce that Tyler Webster, Artist Diploma from UT Clarinet Studio,  made it to the finals of the United States Air Force premiere band clarinet audition and he was offered a spot with one of their regional ensembles at the Langley Base in Hampton, Virginia. Congratulations Tyler!!

Announcing Visiting Professors for Spring 2015!

We are very excited to announce that we will have two distinguished artists as visiting professors for this coming Spring semester! Ilya Shterenberg, principal clarinetist of the San Antonio Symphony, and Richie Hawley, Professor of Clarinet at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, will be joining the faculty for the clarinet studio! Graeme Johnson attends music festivals overseas

This October, Graeme Johnson (Senior performance) was accepted to study and perform at the Aurora Chamber Music Festival in Vänersborg, Sweden as a student of Yehuda Gilad. Then, in December, he was also selected to attend and perform at the Murcia International Clarinet Seminar in Murcia, Spain, also as a student of Yehuda Gilad. Graeme was selected for both events by competitive audition. Congrats for these worldly accomplishments!

Winnie Fan performs Copland at the Brevard Music Center!

While attending the Brevard Music Festival, Winnie Fan (DMA) won the festival’s annual concerto competition. She performed the Copland Clarinet Concerto with the orchestra there. Congrats Winnie!

UT clarinetists represent the BSoM at ClarinetFest

We are very proud of our students who participated in the International Clarinet Association’s ClarinetFest which was held in Baton Rouge, LA. Roy Park (MM) played beautifully in the Young Artist Competition.  Tim Skinner (DMA) and Winnie Fan (DMA) competed in the Orchestral Excerpts Competition. Winnie earned second-prize in this competition! Congrats to all of you!

UT clarinetists attend summer music festivals

Each year, clarinetists from our studio attend summer music festivals all over the continent and this year is no different.

Shih-yen Chen (DMA) will attend the Pierre Monteux School for Conductors and Orchestra Musicians in Hancock, ME.

Nick Councilor (DMA) will attend the Marrowstone Music Festival in Bellingham, WA.

Winnie Fan (DMA) will attend the Brevard Music Center in Brevard, NC as the Teaching Assistant for the clarinet studio.

Graeme Johnson (Junior) will attend The Banff Centre in Banff, Alberta, Canada.
